Where it all began in 2006

This is Sean, and he's where my art all really began.

This is the first piece I drew after I quit art as a school subject, and thus the first thing I chose to draw rather than I had to draw. (Save of course for crude sketches for whatever purpose)
There's something of a story behind this piece. I'd been talking with a friend who was trying to learn to draw himself, and after I tried to give some advice on where I'd seen he'd made a mistake, he responded sarcastically with: "Yeah, well, you do better!".
So, that turned it into a challenge. Fishing out my pencil case from my school bag, I found some spare paper, and set to work drawing this.

I admit that even by my less than perfect current standards, it's lacking. His head's too small, his shoulders too wide, hands too small and arms too slim.
But it was enough to spark my interest, show me I wasn't quite as atrocious at art as I thought, and it got me to try again.
